Back to School Blues & Mommy Time.

When My Children were little & School was getting close to start I would always get kinda Down. Not only would i feel the stress of everything we would need to do to get ready & the cost of all the clothes, supplies & fees. I often had anxiety because i loved having them Home with me. I liked being with them and not rushing out to lessons,practices & meetings.
Instead it was the Popsicles, Pools & Dirty Bare feet & the only thing we had scheduled was Fun things to do & Church on Sundays.. I do have to admit when they started reaching the Teen years I did start fantasizing about Year round School!. I always Dreamed of being brave enough to Home school my Kiddos but i never had the nerve. Those Moms have an Amazing Gift & wear Capes ,Halos are the some of the Strongest i know. If you are a stay at home Mom or a Mom working outside the Home & doing double duty, Just remember life can be challenging with or without School make sure to take the time for yourselves. This is coming from a Mom of both Birth & Adopted Kiddos that did not accept offers of Help or take time for herself(Kettle Black). After we adopted a Sibling group and Doubled our Family size overnight, It was nine months before My Hubby and I had a dinner date! Not Healthy I know. Please do what I say & not what I did. I had some kind offers of help but I did not take them. I look back & think how we should have taken more time for us & me. If you are a Friend to a Family that has Adopted Children , Remember that the adjustments for them can be extremely hard. Especially if the Little ones have special needs.

A simple meal or offer of help can make a Big difference. Remember the Children that were already in the Family before. This can be a really tough for them. We took our Girl's out

on special dates to spend time with them alone. Because we Choose to Adopt, When we

have challenges others sometimes don't understand what we are going through. Remember

How important it is to take care of Yourself, Take up offers of Help & say Yes to others.

Here are my Top 10 ideas to help Adoptive familes:

1.Bring them Meals. (don't ask just Do)-

2.Dinner Gift certificates-( everyone loves Pizza on a Crazy night)

3.Offer to run errands. (Pick kids up, Grocery store. ect.)

4.Take the other Kids out for Fun- (a win win for everyone)

5.Take Mommy out for a Mani or Pedi or Dad out for a Guy thing.

6.Offer to do Cleaning or Hire a Cleaning service to come in for her.

7.Invite them over to your House for dinner or just to hang out.

8. Have a Shower for them, even if the Kids they adopted are Older.(they often need more)

9. Support the Adoption Financially if at all possible-Adoption is very expensive & can add a large Burden to the finances.

10. Love & support them. Open your ears & Heart to them. Listen to them when times are tough(even when you don't understand & you are thinking they were Crazy to Adopt kids with so many Challenges) Don't judge them. Be There when they need you & Most of all LOVE the

Kids with all your Heart & Soul. Be the Hero for that Family!

Did you know that the Health care Reform Law has been Expanded the Adoption Tax Credit?
What does this mean for Adopting Families?
It means that the amount of credit was increased to 13,170. The best part of this is that it will be Refunded to you! Because the adoption tax credit will be refundable, families who have smaller tax liability will now be able to benefit from the credit for adoptions finalized in 2010 & 2011. This information was given to me at an Adoption non-profit that i volunteer at. They said that many people do not know about this information.

Note* Refundable is the most important word. It means that receipts/documentation of
expenses are not necessary. it means that the parents do not need to owe the govt $ to get a
tax credit for it. It means that no matter if/how much the parents owe the govt(even if it is $0)
they will get a credit refund of $13,170.

Public law 111-148 the Patient Protection & Affordable Care act was signed into law on March
23, 2010 section 10909 of the act extended the adoption tax credit for one more year to Dec.
31, 2011.

Please Please -let everyone you know that is Adopting this year or next about this. I would so Love to see Adoptive Families to get this well deserved refund.

Artists for Hope is a Wonderful Organization that is making a Huge Difference in the lives of Children. I recently donated a Haiti necklace to support the Amazing things they are doing.

Artists for Hope began in 2008. After seeing pictures online of children literally starving to death in Haiti, a few artists decided to get together and do something to make life better for these kids. They knew there had to be other artists out there that would want to make a difference and that was the beginning of Artists For Hope.

I am excited to Giveaway -2 sets of handmade bracelets lovingly made in Cazale, Haiti by member of the new Artists For Hope Art Co-op. The bracelets are made from clean recycled plastic and we are thrilled that continued classes like these will help to provide for the basic needs of the families that are involved in the Art Co-op. Several of the women in the bracelet class were earthquake victims that have been recovering from various injuries in Cazale and are now trying to restart their lives.

One of my Wonderful Customers Susan and a Friend traveled to Addis Ababa a few months ago and they were so impacted by the needs of the Orphans there. They came back and immediately
and went to work on an Amazing project through Pei Wei restaurants to sell Cookies and the Profits will go to the Gladney Foundation to help support Children Worldwide Through Humanitarian Aid efforts. They will start the fundraiser in Arizona & Texas next week. If you live in those States Please go and purchase them. I am hoping they will come to Colorado soon.

My Hubby is learning to make Bread from his own yeast starter. He has been making Muffins too. Being a Carb Queen of course they are Amazingly Good to me. He uses all organic ingredients. This really is a Miracle at my House! We have been together since we were teens & this is all new for him. He has come from asking me " How do you work this thing" (our Oven) to recently making his own Pasta from scratch and his sauce from fresh tomatoes & serving me Dinner. I am very Proud of him and I love to watch him or anyone else cooking in my Kitchen besides me.

Aunt Katie is learning to sew and you would never know it by looking at the Quilt. When I saw it I squealed " Where did you get that?" It is so very well made and the Colors are so fun.

A 13 year old Boy named Austin is raising money to travel to Ethiopia to bring home his new sister. He is assisting Santa and writing postcards from Hawaii as a fundraiser. Mini Decorating!

No this is not my House, It is a Sweet little cottage for my G-Babies! When I found out my daughter was having a Girl I started on the search and found it on Craigslist. We had to have it craned out of the sellers yard and put into ours. It was painted in many bright colors inside & out. I painted it to match our house in Greens, reds & black.. We have oodles of Fun with allot of Silliness & many Tea party's inside.

A mini sofa I got at a tag sale and had it reupholstered in Faux Leather.
A damask wall decal and 2 white Bird sconces are hung above the sofa.

A iron Headboard I put in the mini loft upstairs. When the Girls get a little older we will hang the ladder back up.
Black & white damask window topper trimmed in red & Mini art framed in Black. A vintage black,white & red oven and stove filled with kitchen items to create many delightful Goodies. We also have the fridge too. It's filled with all kinds of play treats from cupcakes to Sushi-YUM
Sweet little Alphabet tags I ordered from Etsy and I sandwiched them in between glass and framed them in black. A vintage telephone that actually rings, Plastic fruit and a Wonderful Piece of art called "Entertaining Angels" from one of my Favorite Etsy Artists called Arian-Visit her here My Amazingly Precious G-baby who loves to pretend.

I designed a necklace for a wonderful Adoptive Mom who has a company called It's Poppy Dip and she creates Dresses to earn money to help with Adoption expenses. When I found out she makes these Amazingly Cute dresses I had to order 3 for my Sweet Grand-baby Girl from Ethiopia! They are so well made and come in many fun fabrics. The only problem I had was that her price for them is way too low($25.00 each) I think she should charge at least $35-40 each.

I bring them to partys and our old fashioned Town picnic. They are made from 5 simple ingredients.

That’s how I feel every time I think of The Orphans in Africa, Ethiopia and the All over the World. My Journey and Heart for adoption started The day I met my 2 and 4 year old sons and when David who had just turned 4 said to us as we entered the room “Are you The People that want to be our Parents?” As I looked into his big Brown eyes It was a little scary but still easy to say “YES”. At that point we went from two to four Kiddos under the age of seven!
I also had the privilege to travel to Ethiopia in January of this year with our oldest Daughter and her Family to bring home another Brown eyed Beauty,
Our 14 month Grand baby Girl. I am so Thankful that I was there to see,hear, and smell her roots and never ever forget where she began and how the amazing Ethiopian people were such an inspiration for us. How we as Americans can truly learn from there daily example of how they deeply Love and Treasure each other. How they show affection to each other & openly hold hands as they go about the day to day battles of constantly fighting to feed, clothe and bring water to their Families and almost always with a warm smile to give.
“To Love what I do and feel that it makes a difference-How could I ask for anymore!”
That is how I feel about my Jewelry that I design and Create to help support many non-profits and Families that are Adopting. It is passion with a purpose. My first Love for Jewelry started in High School classes I had taken and I continued to take for several years late in to my adulthood. My father was a Jewelry Designer and My mom was a talented Artist. My parents gave me a desire to want to learn anything new . I really liked designing Jewelry and It became a Deep love for me when I started donating a nice portion of the sales to others.
My Muse are the Orphans that have been given a second chance by incredible People that take the risk to open their Hearts and Love the unloved.
I am touched by The Mom’s that send me Thank you notes & pictures of their little ones and I think of each one as I put a Sweet name or message on the necklace. I love to make a treasure , Something tangible that they can have close to them as they wait for a baby to come home or as a reminder of how they chose to be a Mom and how they Love their children.
The connection between women and my pieces is also something that continues to amaze me. I have had moms connect in line at Disneyland because they were both wearing one of my necklaces. I have also met many wonderful Husbands that want a one of kind piece that will show how much they appreciate their wives and daughters. I have such a Great respect for single Mom’s who make the decision to Adopt Children and sometimes older Children and to do the best that they can to raise them, These people are just some of my Hero’s that drive me each day to be so excited to get to make my Jewelry in my little studio, each piece by hand for someone that I admire and look up to because they have chosen to Be the Change our Children Need, The Hope.
I design Jewelry to help support Children with Aids, Orphans in Africa ,Orphans waiting to be adopted, Women in third world Countries that are starting small businesses, Mother’s that have lost babies, Families that are Adopting all over the world. I have also supported people that are doing missions work and many other groups that have huge Hearts for Children.
As you can see I am so very Thankful that I get to do what I do each day and be part of so many lives that Inspire me.

Lady Bugs have always been a special sign of Hope to me, Each spring & summer I usually see a couple here & there. Today it is one year ago that my precious Mama went to Heaven & Today I have more than a Thousand Lady bugs that are all over my Yard! I am walking very carefully not to step on them on my porch. They made me think of my Mama and How I wish could go back to last year and eat chinese food on her bed with her while we watched Judge Judy.

Our Beautiful Grandbaby from Ethiopia turned 1 last week, I made these Sweet Cupcakes for her B-Day Celebration. You can bring a photo in to most larger Bakeries and have them print the picture for cupcakes on edible paper that you can apply to your own Homemade cakes!!! I also made a little vanilla cake with pink butter cream icing and tiny sprinkles just her size.

Silked Screened Goodies

I recently took a Silk screening Class with a Sweet Friend. It is something I have wanted to do for years. I wanted to learn it to be able to make some unique tees and gifts for others. It really is an Art and I have along way to go until I am there but it sure is fun. I created The ties for my youngest adopted Son who is in a Chior and My nephew (AKA) The music man. If you look closely you can see I printed the notes upside down. My son loved it that way-a happy accident!

The other is a T-shirt I made, I also put this design on a button shirt for my son Josh right above his shirt Pocket. It turned out very Fun.

Quilt Love update & contest winners!!!

Our trip was amazing and it was so awesome to bring all the sweet little quilts to the orphanage.

They were very appreciative and excited about them. The quilts that arrived after we left will also be given to the orphanage in the next couple of months too. The Quilt judges had a super hard time deciding the winners with so many Beautiful creative quilts to choose from.

It has been so incredible to get to open each package and see the very Sweet little Love quilts for the babies in Ethiopia. I am so priveleged to get to bring these little Treasures with us tomorrow
So much Love, creativity and Heart were put into each one. I can seriously feel the Love you have filled them with and I know they will be so appreciated too. A few of you have mentioned that these were your first quilts? It might be time to give up your day jobs and go into quilting full time!!!
